In spring, yellow daffodils glow on this tour, but the flora is also beguilingly diverse in summer and fall. Grasses reveal their hidden grace, trees surprise us with their diversity. We encounter flowers that heal at the Heilsteinhaus; plants that dye tell of old crafts in Monschau. Those who love something special will be fascinated by the story of the rare river pearl mussels in the Perlenbach.

The tour first takes you through the beautiful Rur valley from Kalterherberg to Monschau. The idyllic former cloth-making town invites you to linger. Virtually nothing has changed in the townscape here for almost 300 years: An idyll of half-timbered houses and quarrystone buildings, the like of which is unparalleled today.

We continue along the course of the Rur to Einruhr and through the Eifel National Park, where beech forests line the route. Typical of the landscape are also the numerous impressive meter-high hedgerows within the settlements, which were built to protect the individual farms from the wind, as well as a distinctive system of hedgerows that runs through fields and meadows. The Eifel dome announces the approaching end of the tour.
