Wasserburgen-Route: Etappe 6b Stolberg-Düren
Stolberg
The tour starts in Stolberg's old town with its numerous copper courtyards and narrow, winding alleyways. In addition to the castle, the Zinkhütter Hof museum of industrial culture is well worth a detour. After an initial climb at the start of the tour, the route continues via Hastenrath, Nothberg and Langerwehe to Kreuzau. The rest of the tour is almost completely flat, so you can cycle on in a relaxed manner towards Düren as your stage destination. In addition to the numerous castles you pass on this section, the pottery museum in Langerwehe is also worth a visit. The moated castle of Merode Castle is also known throughout the region, especially for its wonderful Christmas market. Nothberg Castle, which is now a ruined castle, also has a unique flair. At the end of the tour, a visit to the Leopold Hoesch Museum is highly recommended.
