An der Bergflanke
Malmedy
Experience the landscape of East Belgium and the beautiful nature around the high-altitude village of Xhoffraix. You quickly become aware of the altitude here as you descend into the valleys and hollows that line Xhoffraix. The first panorama appears after a good kilometer. A clear-cut behind a bend opens up the view of the Warche valley.
You reach Reinhardstein Castle via a narrow mule track. The other bank awaits you with a tough climb. There is never a dull moment on this path, which climbs steadily. The "Nez Napoléon" (Napoleon's nose) is a steep rocky outcrop that stands out from the undergrowth. The beauty of the landscape with the constantly winding river makes the sweat-inducing climb seem only half as strenuous.
At the very top of the ridge, the path meanders and adapts to the nature of the altitude. A little further on, the path descends steeply to the "Camping du moulin". Even if the mountains in the Ardennes are not particularly high, they demand a lot from hikers, and the final ascent along the Coreu stream is the best proof of this. A hike for athletes.
