Wasserburgen-Route: Etappe 1b Bad Godesberg-Brühl
Bonn-Bad Godesberg
The 45km stage leads from Bad Godesberg via the Kottenforst through Alfter and Bornheim towards Brühl. The stage takes you to Gudenau Castle in Wachtberg-Villip, which was built in the 13th century. The route continues past the historic Kottenforst railroad station. From Buschhoven, you reach the Iron Man, which is the subject of numerous legends. The 1.20 m high iron stele marks a surveying point where several paths intersect. Past the monument, the route heads towards Alfter Castle and on to Brenig. Once in Brenig, the route passes the ruins of Hemmerich Castle. Also worth seeing are the water tower, Rösberg Castle, Kitzburg Castle, the witches' tower and Rheindorf Castle. In Brühl, the World Heritage castles of Augustusburg and Falkenlust Palace, a lively old town and the Max-Ernst Museum await you.
