Vennbahn (Etappe 3) St.Vith - Troisvierges
The stage starts in St. Vith at Haus Triangel. After leaving the village, you cycle a short distance through the forest and under the towering highway bridge. You soon pass through the tranquil village of Neidingen. Once again, numerous streams and small rivers are a constant companion along the route and provide a varied landscape. The first tunnel passage at Lommersweiler sets the scene for the picturesque Ourtal valley. In the direction of Hemmeres, the route crosses the German-Belgian border once again. Back on Belgian territory, the charmingly situated chapel of Weweler appears on the horizon after a while, perched high up on the Reuländer Ouberg, as well as the impressive castle ruins of Reuland.
One last view of the village and the surrounding Ardennes foothills from the fortified tower and the final stretch on the way to Troisvierges begins. The scenic feast for the eyes continues and at Lengeler you head straight for the second tunnel. Unfortunately, this tunnel is not open to visitors until further notice. A rare species of bat has made the dark tube to Luxembourg its refuge and will not tolerate any troublemakers for the time being. However, it is worth approaching the tunnel from the Luxembourg side - the overgrown and moss-covered fortification walls make a majestic impression. Just a few kilometers later, you reach your destination at the train station in Troisvierges.
