Sauermühle
The tour begins at the national park information point in Einruhr. Here you can find out about the special features of the landscape of the national park region and Lake Rursee. After a refreshment at the healing stone fountain in the inner courtyard of the Heilsteinhaus, the tour can continue uphill out of the village to the Dreiborn plateau. The 33 km² Dreiborn plateau is an important part of the Eifel National Park, which was established in 2004 and has since been home to many endangered species, such as the fire salamander.
We then reach the Sauermühle mill at the southernmost point of the tour, where the water from the Heilsteinbrunnen well is extracted. However, the sour mill and the well house have long since disappeared. However, the former stone plaque of the mill can now be found in the wall in front of the former pastorate in Einruhr. The Latin inscription "Deo ViVo, a qUo CVnCta Dona proCeDUnt" (To the living God, from whom all gifts come) is well preserved.
Finally, the route leads along the Sauerbach stream back to Einruhr, where the idyllic and attractive tour ends.
