Paulinentour - Würselen-Adamsmühle
Dive into the greenery.
First in the Paulinenwäldchen, named after Pauline, Napoleon's sister, who also liked to go for walks here. The bluestone obelisk from 1810 also dates from this era and was one of the reference points for the geographer Jan Joseph Tranchot, who mapped the Rhineland on behalf of the French government.
We hike gently down into the Wurmtal valley along orchards, pastures and hollow paths. As the hike progresses, we get closer and closer to the Wurm, observe it from halfway up the valley slope and are accompanied by its babbling. For over 700 years, the river kept 45 mills running. Oil was pressed and grain ground at the Adamsmühle, mine water was pumped out at the Teuterhof and a loom was operated at the Wolfsfurth.
We are also amazed by an impressive hollow path: the beech trees on the ramparts of the medieval moat date back to the old protective hedge.
