Discover the southern part of the Heidenaturpark with Teverner and Brunsumer Heide on this tour. The Teverener Heide impresses with its colorful variety of heath, moor and forest. Numerous lakes, which were created by the extraction of sand and clay in the 20th century, also characterize the landscape. Rare animal and plant species, such as the woodlark and over 40 dragonfly species, have found a home here. Sheep and goats take care of the valuable heathland. The Brunsumer Heide, in turn, is characterized by charming heath and moorland landscapes that have formed on millions of years old dune sands. The Brunssummerheide visitor center is located high on a hill and offers a variety of activities and information about nature as well as a magnificent view.

There is also plenty to discover outside the nature park on the tour. Numerous castles and palaces along the way, such as Rode Castle, the landmark of Herzogenrath, Rimburg Castle, Zweibrüggen Castle, Kasteel Erenstein or the impressive ensemble of buildings at Rolduc Abbey, the largest surviving monastery complex in the Netherlands, are reminiscent of days long gone when dukes and knights still roamed the land.
