Partnerweg des Eifelsteigs - Kupferroute
Stolberg
The 16 km long copper route starts in the historic old town at the "Alter Markt" and leads up to the Hammerberg. You walk past the Binsfeldhammer quarry via Mausbach to Vicht. The route leads through the forest to the Schlangenberg nature reserve with its special and rare galmei flora. From here, the route leads through the Münsterwald forest towards Zweifall, the northern gateway to the Eifel in the Northern Eifel Nature Park. At Venwegen, the Kupferroute crosses the city boundary to Aachen and connects the copper town of Stolberg with the Eifelsteig. The name "Copper Route" is derived from the history of the town of Stolberg with its famous copper masters, copper yards and copper mills and the production of yellow copper (brass). The "Copper Route" not only offers hikers unforgettable nature experiences, but also leads to striking and impressive evidence of the long history of the metalworking industry in Stolberg.
