Partnerweg des Eifelsteigs - Inderoute
Prüm
The route leads along the wide valley of the Inde from Aachen-Brand to Kornelimünster. The clear waters of the Inde are rich in fish thanks to the meanders and oxbow lakes, and it winds through wet meadows with individual groups of trees. The route first leads through open meadows with panoramic views of the Eifel mountain ranges to the Komerich Mill (16th century) and on to the restored Bilstermühle lime kiln (1870) with a geological outcrop. The second part of the trail leads through the Klauser and Frankenwald forests, a limestone ravine forest with bizarre rock formations, past the chapel (former hermitage, 17th century). Finally, the trail follows the meanders of the Inde upstream to the former imperial abbey (814 - 1804), now the "Kunst aus NRW" museum, to the medieval town center of Kornelimünster, the starting point of the Eifelsteig.
