Öm de Kier

The starting point of the approx. 9 km tour is either the Woffelsbacher Straße parking lot in Rurberg or the pretty Wendelinus Chapel in Woffelsbach, built in 1911. In 1954, the people of Woffelsbach erected a stone monument to their namesake and heraldic animal opposite the chapel in the form of a fountain.

The hike first leads to the Wolfsbach stream, to which the village owes its name. The stream has its source south of Steckenborn and flows into the Rur reservoir in Woffelsbach. The Wolfsbach was renaturalized as part of major reconstruction measures in the center of Woffelsbach in 2012. Since then, numerous plant and animal species have returned to their original habitat.

The route continues through a wooded area and we reach the Weidenbach valley. We then cross the northern part of Rurberg, where the hike takes us up to the Weidenhövel hill. Here, orchards bear witness to a long tradition.

The path soon branches off to Weidenbacher Bucht and leads us along the idyllic banks of the Rursee back to Woffelsbach.

The recommended walking direction is anti-clockwise.
