Eifel-Höhen-Route - Etappe 3b Einruhr-Gemünd (Südschleife)
Simmerath-Einruhr
Compared to the Nordschleife, this stage has relatively few inclines and is much shorter at 20 km, leading directly into the heart of the Eifel National Park. You will experience the area where wildcats, woodpeckers and wall lizards call the shots and where man "lets nature be nature". If you would like to find out more about the flora and fauna of the national park, you can visit the national park gates in Rurberg and Schleiden-Gemünd, which have exciting exhibitions waiting for you. From Rurberg, the route leads along the Obersee lake to the Urftsee lake with its imposing dam wall. A rest stop with a view of the former Nazi "Ordensburg" Vogelsang and the magnificent forests of the Eifel National Park will remain unforgettable. The Urftsee route finally takes you to the spa town of Gemünd, the destination of this day's stage, where you can end the day in one of the cozy cafés.
