Discover the region around the "Düvelstadt", as Würselen is also called by the locals, on this tour. The circular tour leads through an idyllic and varied landscape of forests, meadows and floodplains along the Wurm. Outside the Wurm valley, the route takes you along green former railroad lines, through parkland, fields and meadows as well as residential areas with the town centers of Würselen-Mitte and Bardenberg with its 47 m high water tower as a landmark visible from afar. In the heart of Würselen's town center, the route passes the parish church of St. Sebastian with the stone figure high up in the tower, to which Würselen owes the title of Düvelstadt and which is the subject of several stories. The town centre is also dominated by two 15-metre-high limestone slag heaps, which lay fallow until a few years ago as an industrial landscape resulting from the production of soda ash and were recultivated as part of the EuRegionale 2008. Wilhelmstein Castle, also located along the route, towers high above the Wurmtal valley. Built as a medieval border castle, the castle ruins are now the main attraction in the Wurmtal recreational area. In the summer months, cultural events from classical music to rock, from theater to cabaret to open-air cinema take place in the shadow of the castle, which are known and loved far beyond the borders of Würselen and the Aachen region. There is also a restaurant with an 18-hole mini-golf course, making the castle ideal for a short break, especially for families with children. If you want to treat yourself to a cool drink or a meal after the tour, you can stop off at the Teuter Hof, the start and end point of the tour. From here, we also recommend a short walk along the "Black & White" hiking trail, which was created as part of the EuRegionale 2008.
