Discover the beautiful north of Aachen between the Rur and Wurm valleys. On low-traffic roads, quiet country lanes and along the Wurm, you roll along flat and enjoy a varied landscape between slag heaps, floodplains and Bördelandschaft.

The tour starts at Herzogenrath station (or alternatively at another starting point/station along the route), from where the tour leads along the coal tip of the former Adolf mine in Merkstein to Herbach. A short but steep climb later, we find ourselves on quiet country lanes, which we follow to Carl-Alexander-Park in Baesweiler. Right at the start of the tour, we have "ticked off" two of the numerous coal tips from the region's coal mining past, which are characteristic of Aachen's northern region, and are now heading north towards the Rur valley. Along the "Beekfließ", a small stream that now accompanies us for almost 10 km into the village of Beeck, the tour first leads along quiet country lanes without any traffic to the edge of the Wurmtal valley before heading towards the town of Linnich and the Rur valley. From Linnich, the tour leads along the B57 on an accompanying cycle path to Baal, where it now heads west to Hückelhoven on the L117. Half of the tour is completed in Hückelhoven, which is why a break for refreshments is recommended here or at the nearby Adolfosee lake.

After circling the Adolfosee, the route now heads south again through the Selfkant into the Wurm valley. From Randerath, the tour now follows the course of the Wurm for 15 km and continues on an excellent cycle path along the river through a beautiful floodplain landscape via Geilenkirchen to Rimburg, where we leave the Wurm valley on one of the few climbs of the day.

Now it is only a stone's throw to the end of the tour and after a short detour into the Netherlands for 200m, we reach Herzogenrath town center, where numerous cafés invite us to enjoy a relaxing end to the tour.
