On this almost 70 km long stage of the Green Route, you leave the imperial city of Aachen and cycle through the northern district of Aachen towards the district of Heinsberg, where the stage ends in Tüddern in Selfkant.

On the northern edge of Aachen, the Green Route climbs the edge of the Aachen basin. For the more athletic, there is a variant via the northern flank of the legendary Aachen Lousberg, which offers an impressive view of Aachen and the Soers. You then follow the valley of the small river Wurm, where there is evidence that coal was mined as early as the 12th century. You cycle idyllically along the narrow, winding river in the midst of unspoiled nature towards Übach Palenberg before turning west onto the flat plateau of the Teverener Heide. Here, too, you can expect natural, quiet, idyllic paths in the middle of the heath nature park and the Rodebach nature park. The route continues through the Selfkant, Germany's westernmost tip, past picturesque villages in the middle of the almost flat landscape on cyclist-friendly roads to the end point of the stage, the small village of Tüddern in the Selfkant.

Here you can already sense the flair of our neighboring country, the Netherlands, and in fact this part belonged to the Kingdom of the Netherlands from 1949 to 1963 and was bought back at a high price.
