This varied circular tour takes you through the northern part of the StädteRegion. In addition to idyllic natural landscapes, such as the Broichbach Valley near Alsdorf or the Wurm Valley between Würselen and Herzogenrath, you will find historical buildings with exciting stories along the way. The route starts in Herzogenrath and first leads through the picturesque Broichbach valley in the shadow of former mining dumps to Alsdorf. In Alsdorf, we leave the Broichbach and cycle via the tranquil village of Euchen through a landscape characterized by farmland and pastures to the "Düvelstadt" of Würselen. The newly built Aachen-Jülich railroad cycle path takes us comfortably towards Aachen before we turn off at junction 9 into the idyllic Wurmtal valley, the green lung between Herzogenrath and Aachen. The up to 8 m wide Wurm with its herb-rich shorelines has an ecologically very important diversity of species due to its many steep banks and landings and meanders back through a densely overgrown floodplain landscape in sometimes sweeping bends to Herzogenrath, where this eventful tour ends.
