Eifel-Höhen-Route - Etappe 4 Gemünd-Blankenheim

Schleiden-Gemünd

The stage leads from Gemünd via Kall, Mechernich and Nettersheim to Blankenheim. The LVR open-air museum in Kommern brings life in the Rhineland in previous centuries to life. The historic town center and the summer toboggan run in Kommern, as well as the Rhineland High Game Park are always worth a detour, as is the imposing Eicks Castle. The route continues downhill to the finds of the Roman aqueduct, but the ascent to the Kakushöhle cave near Eiserfey to Keldenich is not long in coming. The route continues downhill to Urft, from where it is worth taking a detour to Steinfeld Abbey with its basilica, through the Urfttal valley. Passing the Roman "Grüner Pütz" fountain, the route continues to the Eifel Nature Center in Nettersheim before returning to the starting point in Blankenheim. Here you can continue along the Ahr Cycle Path to the Rhine or along the Kyll Valley Cycle Path to Trier.
