The tour takes you around the Monschauer Land region, which is why there are a few meters of altitude to conquer over the 50 kilometers, so much in advance. However, the effort is rewarded with beautiful mountain trails, dense green forests and a great nature experience. The tour is characterized by the picturesque Rursee lake in the middle of the Eifel National Park and the idyllic Rur valley. Typical of the landscape are the impressive meter-high hedgerows within the settlements, which were built to protect the individual farms from the wind, as well as a distinctive system of hedgerows. The former cloth-making town of Monschau is the perfect place for a first break after just under 20 kilometers and boasts a magnificent half-timbered idyll that is second to none. After a stroll through the historic old town, you cycle along the former Vennbahn railroad line to Lammersdorf, where you can gain an insight into the way of life of your Eifel ancestors during a visit to the farm museum. Via Rollesbroich, Strauch and Steckenborn, the tour finally leads back to the Eifel lake district, where the idyllic Eifel village of Woffelsbach attracts visitors with a wide range of water sports. In Rurberg, it is worth visiting the National Park Gate, which provides information about the unique natural landscape of the Eifel National Park, before returning to the starting point in Einruhr. There you can round off the day with a leisurely boat trip.
