Dinotour Würselen
One worm valley with a change of sides.
Right at the start, huge white stone eggs lie in the path - not dinosaur eggs, but the art installation "Black & White". They are a reminder of the soda factory in Würselen, which was active until 1929. Its legacy, an up to 10-metre-thick pile of lime made from the factory's residues, also looks almost like an alien in the Wurmtal valley. We can find black coal on both sides of the river. Pure nature, as the coal here reaches the earth's surface. The leaf-covered excavations that can still be seen today in the forest are evidence of human activity. Man-made, as the slopes had to absorb the coal spoil. The plateau of the Gouley black spoil tip stretches out at the foot of a viewing platform, while that of the Langenberg spoil tip on the Kohlscheid side of the Wurm lies hidden in the greenery of the forest and Volksgarten. The Wurm at the very bottom doesn't care much, it is allowed to meander through its self-created meadow landscape.
