Die geheime Amel
Montenau is located on the edge of one of the largest forests in the region, the Wolfsbusch. A name that reminds us that the wolf still roamed the Ardennes massif in the XVIIIth century. Century roamed the Ardennes massif. The wide and well-maintained path skirts the hill to meet the turbulent Amel river further down. At the end of the fall, the river widens due to the rains.
The route shifts upwards and the surroundings are wild. Numerous bogs surround the basin of the Amel, but a wooden path ensures that you keep your feet dry! The hiking trail climbs up the other, more open bank: the coniferous forest gives way to wide fields. Before you reach Ondenval, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Wolfsbusch and the surrounding hills.
The proximity to the village undoubtedly explains the chance encounter with a fox running down the valley hollow. In the last few kilometers, the trail rejoins the river, which has formed a very wet little valley. Climb up its course and enjoy the view: a nice end to this rarely walked hiking route.
