Auf den Gipfel des CarlAlexanderParks
Baesweiler
At the Bergfoyer, the central meeting point in the Carl Alexander Park, the ascent begins to the mountain plateau at a height of 80 m, a quiet place to linger with a magnificent panoramic view over the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. The ascent to the mountain plateau takes place in a spectacular way via a footbridge installed in the mountain foyer, which leads through the treetops of the slag heap.
Information boards explain the very special flora and fauna that has settled along the slopes after the slag heap was recultivated. The way back leads along a beautiful mountain path with resting places and a viewpoint of the old Roman road "Via Belgica".
Finally, we recommend exploring the mountain park at the foot of the slag heap, which has been created on an area of around seven hectares on the southern edge of the slag heap against the imposing backdrop of the industrial forest. The Bergpark is also home to a youth camp with a camp box as well as spacious open areas for numerous games and sports, making the tour the perfect excursion for the whole family.
