Ab aufs Rad! - Tour 8: Indetal und Stolberger Altstadt
The course of the River Inde is a constant companion on this varied route. The first section of the tour leads through the idyllic Inde valley. You pass the Busch, Hau and Bock mills on the way to Büsbach. These three mills are representative of the centuries-old tradition of metal processing in Stolberg. The route then continues along the Inde, also known here as the Münsterbach, through a beautiful natural landscape to Breinig. Once in Breinig, the next highlight awaits. Alt Breinig presents itself with a harmonious and lively townscape. In particular, the large ensemble of quarry stone houses in the listed street "Alt Breinig" is an architectural highlight. The route leads through the Stolberg forest back to Stolberg. The medieval castle, the town's landmark and cultural meeting place, rises above the historic old town. The unique copper yards and old churches are witnesses to Stolberg's industrial development and heyday in the 17th/18th century. Despite its long history of development, Stolberg's old town has a homogeneous appearance and impresses as a historical ensemble without appearing uniform.
