The start and end point of these hikes is the Wendelinus Chapel in Woffelsbach, which was built in 1911 and dedicated to St. Wendelinus. In 1954, the people of Woffelsbach erected a stone monument to their namesake and heraldic animal with a fountain opposite the chapel. The wolf has been spitting water there ever since. Just a few steps further on, the route crosses the first watercourse, the Wolfsbach. Wolves probably had their dens near the stream in the past.

We now leave Woffelsbach and follow the Allersbach and Hesselbach valleys towards the Michelshof wind farm, which today covers a large proportion of the municipality of Simmerath's renewable energy requirements. It was the first community wind farm in the municipality and was put into operation in July 2004. It covers the annual electricity needs of around 7,000 households.

We then enter an extensive wooded area and are surrounded by a beautiful mixed forest. Time and again, we come across small, babbling Eifel streams and follow the valleys that the rivers have carved into the landscape over the centuries. We hike through a natural landscape with streams, floodplains and alluvial forests that have been placed under nature protection due to the presence of numerous rare animal and plant species. At the end of the tour, we are treated to a distant view of Woffelsbach Bay. The town itself also has a lot to offer with its half-timbered houses, lakeside promenades and lakeside terraces. Even today, orchards bear witness to a long tradition of fruit growing. Thanks to the sheltered valley location, cherries and plums thrived particularly well and even wine was grown here.
