Wildnis-Trail: Etappe 4 (Heimbach - Zerkall)
The hike from Heimbach to Zerkall is a short, relatively easy stage through the Rureifel in the north of the national park. The stage leads from the national park gate in Heimbach to the north. A forest and clearing landscape begins directly behind Heimbach, where the songbird concert is particularly beautiful in May. The forests of the national park are home to numerous songbirds. In addition to the species that are common here, the national park is also home to rare species such as the nightingale and the pied flycatcher. The route continues north through the oak forests of the Hetzinger Wald and then up through the quiet Schliebachtal valley until shortly before Schmidt. From there, you hike down into the Kall valley and through it to your destination at the confluence of the Kall and Rur rivers, which at 175 m is the lowest point of the hike.
