Von Vogelsang bis Einruhr im Nationalpark
Even the starting point at Vogelsang Castle gives an idea of the scenic attractiveness of the route. Situated high above the Urftsee lake, it offers wide panoramic views of the untouched nature of the Eifel National Park and the low mountain range landscape of the North Eifel. The tour leads mainly along the banks of the Rur and Urft dams, offering breathtaking views of the lake landscape and the surrounding Eifel countryside.
But the route also has a lot to offer away from the lakes, as it leads through the middle of the only national park in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is home to rare animal and plant species such as beavers, eagle owls and wildcats, honey buzzards and red kites, bearded owls and daffodil meadows or deer tongues and beech ferns. Observations of wildlife on the tour are therefore not uncommon.
