Rennradtour: Durchs Hohe Venn zur Wesertalsperre

Stolberg

From the copper town of Stolberg at the foot of the North Eifel, the route first climbs steadily to the Weser dam in Eupen, before the roads climb up into the Venn at up to 600m above sea level. NN. altitude. Picturesque Eifel villages, a beautiful reservoir, fascinating views of the unique Venn and dense forests on the way back through the North Eifel characterize this varied tour!

The 80km tour starts in Stolberg's old town, at the parking lot at the foot of the Hammerberg. From there, the route is initially undulating via Büsbach to Dorff and on to Kornelimünster. Although this is still the beginning of the tour, it is well worth making a first stop here in the beautiful old town. The Vennbahn now climbs steadily via Walheim, Schmithof and past Raeren up into the Venn, where we leave the Vennbahn at the 22nd kilometer and take quiet side roads and farm tracks, passing the Eupener Wesertalsperre and plunging further and further into the High Fens, climbing up to an altitude of over 600 mm above sea level. This section of the tour is characterized by quiet forests, car-free farm roads and the beautiful nature of the Fens.

In Lammersdorf, the tour now leads downhill again and back towards the starting point. Here we meet the Vennbahn again, which we follow to Roetgen before branching off in the direction of the Dreilägerbach dam. Via Rott, Mulartshütte, Zweifall and Vicht, the route from here is only flat to slightly downhill towards Stolberg's old town, which invites you to linger after completing the tour.
