Where Charlemagne's war horses once rode to Saxony in 775 with warlike intentions, steel horses are the norm today. The intentions of today's pedal knights are much more peaceful and are aimed at a varied forest, field and meadow landscape between Aachen and Langerwehe. The tour also has a lot to offer culturally. In addition to the beautiful historic center of the imperial city with its cathedral, town hall and various historic squares, the route passes many other historic buildings and town centers. The historic center of Kornelimünster, for example, is absolutely worth seeing. Largely spared from the great wars, the town houses from the 17th and 18th centuries still characterize the townscape today. The historic town center from the Middle Ages has been almost completely preserved. The history of secular architecture in the Aachen region is nowhere more condensed than in Kornelimünster. Frankenberg Castle, which dates back to the end of the 13th century and has since been converted into a civic and cultural center, and Laufenburg Castle near Langerwehe, which dates back to the 12th century and now houses a restaurant, are also absolutely worth a visit.

A visit to the pottery museum in the old vicarage in Langerwehe will give you a detailed insight into the craft of pottery making before you return to Aachen. The museum's program includes pottery markets, a medieval store, an Eifel market and many special exhibitions.
