indeland-Radroute 5: Rurauen-Berg-Route
Explore the region around the town of Linnich on the almost 18 km Rurauen-Berg route. It is well worth visiting the German stained glass museum located along the route, which offers 1,400 square meters of exhibition space and is Germany's only museum focusing on stained glass from the 19th century to the present day. The route also offers walkers and cyclists wonderful recreational opportunities in the unique "Ruraue" cultural landscape. A particular highlight is the imposing Rurwehr weir in the Linnich district of Rurdorf. Destroyed during the Second World War, the weir was repaired between 1947 and 1948. However, instead of the two weir heads, a straight concrete wall was built on each side of the river bank and a fish ladder was also erected on the left bank. Today, the imposing Rur weir is an excursion destination and a characteristic feature of the "Ruraue" cultural landscape.
