The tour starts at the church of St. Michael in Dedenborn. When the larger villages broke away from the parish churches of Konzen and Simmerath at the beginning of the 18th century, new places of worship had to be built. This was also the case in Dedenborn. In 1717, the foundation stone was laid for the church of St. Michael, which was built in a rural style. Today, despite its 1973 extension, it is the only surviving church of this type in the Monschau region. Its interior contains historically valuable Stations of the Cross from the 17th century.

After only about half a kilometer, you reach the Mullion structure rocks, which are unique in Germany. The folded layers of greywacke were discovered in 1952 during mapping work by state geologist Dr. Wolfgang Schmidt. Incidentally, the Mullion structures owe their name to their unique appearance, which is reminiscent of a bundle of pillars on Gothic church windows.

Crossing the Rur and continuing through the forest, you now follow the Tiefenbach stream until you reach the oil mill. Here you can get an impression of the 17th century: The building complex still gives you a very good idea of how beechnut and other edible oils were produced here back then.

On the way back to St. Michael's Church, you can make a short detour to the Stations of the Cross. The small houses of the Stations of the Cross were built between 1857 and 1863 in the center of Dedenborn and made the village a popular pilgrimage site in the Eifel. Some of the old plaster sculptures are still preserved, others have been newly made from clay.
