This 40 km circular tour starts at the train station in Übach-Palenberg and takes you through lovingly restored villages. On your way, however, you will first encounter impressive witnesses to the region's industrial history, such as the listed Carolus Magnus Center building on the site of the former colliery.Passing the water tower, which is also worth seeing, the route heads towards Baesweiler to the Carl Alexander Park, another former colliery site that has now been transformed into a local recreation area. The imposing slag heap ascent and a great viewing platform invite you to walk up the slag heap and marvel at the rest of the cycle tour from above. Far-reaching views of all the surrounding spoil tips guaranteed!

The tour then leads through the small villages that are so typical of this region, such as Beggendorf, Waurichen, Immendorf and Beeck, which have all been awarded "Gold Villages" in recent years as part of the state competition "Our village should be more beautiful" or "Our village has a future" due to their village character and their well-kept historic town centers, giving the route a very special flair. In Immendorf's historic classroom, visitors even have the opportunity to immerse themselves in school life in the past and view exciting exhibits such as slates with styluses, wall maps, certificates, report cards, murals and photos.

The Landcafe in Immendorf and the Bauern- und Erzählcafe in Beeck are both ideal places to take a break and recharge your batteries before setting off on the return journey. This then leads through the beautiful Wurmtal valley, with numerous old castles and manor houses, such as the 16th century Haus Honsdorf, the former moated castle Gut Leerodt or the late medieval Trips Castle, all of which are well worth a visit (from the outside). In Geilenkirchen on KP 01, it is worth taking a look at Haus Basten. The Willy-Dohmen-Park, Zweibrüggen Castle and the Wurmtal recreation area around Übach-Palenberg then follow before you return to the starting point.
