Wanderung zu den Reitwerken zwischen Vicht und Zweifall
Long before the copper masters, a trade settled in the Vichtbach valley that is the cradle of the Hoesch dynasty, which is well-known from the Ruhr region.
Certain locational advantages in the Vichtbachtal gave rise to so-called Reitwerke in green and scenic surroundings. Especially in the areas of Schevenhütte, Vicht and Zweifall, you can find the Reitmeister architecture, which today appears picturesque and idyllic. The Reitwerke and the Reitmeister have absolutely nothing to do with horses, but are terms of the pre-industrial iron and steel industry that developed along the Vichtbach in the 13th and 14th centuries.
The tour guide Peter Sieprath takes participants on a journey through time between Vicht and Zweifall to find out where the hammer was used in the Vichtbach valley.
In Zweifall, those interested can visit the Protestant cemetery and the Protestant church. The 3-hour journey of discovery ends with coffee and cake in Vicht.
The meeting point is at 14:00 at the Neuenhammer parking lot (Vicht). Tickets are available from Stolberg-Touristik, Zweifaller Str. 5, Tel: 02402 99900-81 or www.stolbergtouristik.de. Registration is required!
