Kupferhof-Führung

The Kupferhof tour takes participants either into the old town or through Stolberg's lower town, which is also known as the "mill". There is a reason for this name, as it should be. In the first half of the 16th century, before the copper masters came to Stolberg, there were already two water-powered mills in this part of town: the Eller Mill and the Jan Ravens Mill.

As the brass industry flourished, a whole complex of mills and copper yards developed in the comparatively wide floodplain, most of which drew their power from the Ellermühlenteich (today's Bastinsweiher). Some of these facilities (Roderburgmühle, Stöck, Weide, Unterster Hof) enrich the appearance of today's Mühle district as charming, picturesque architectural elements.

In the 19th century, the development of this district was decisively influenced by the onset of industrialization and the associated urbanization with corresponding housing construction (rapid population growth).

Some of the remaining copper yards are quite hidden in the middle of today's buildings. So it will be exciting, because in some places another Kupferhof will appear completely unexpectedly and surprisingly. And of course you will also get to see the most beautiful Kupferhof in Stolberg. But that is of course a matter of taste, so choose your favorite, there is plenty to choose from.

You can choose whether you would like to take a tour in the Mühle district or in the city center.
The meeting point varies accordingly. The tour lasts approx. 1.5 hours.

A public Kupferhof tour takes place every 3rd Sunday from April to October. Meeting point is at 3 pm, starting point on request! The participation fee must be paid to the guide. Registration is not required.
