Westwall
Aachen
The 630 km long wall was planned from 1936 and built between 1938 and 1940 to protect Germany's western border. This protective wall, the Westwall, thus also ran through Aachen and, in addition to hidden bunkers, was intended to protect the citizens from attacks and advancing tanks. In the Aachen Forest, you can still find bunkers and abandoned anti-tank barriers that remind us of this time.
