Wasserburgen-Route: Etappe 5 Aachen-Stolberg
The 20-kilometre stage leads from the imperial city of Aachen via Kornelimünster to the copper town of Stolberg. The manageable length of the day's stage offers the advantage of allowing sufficient time to visit the historic town centers of Aachen with its cathedral and historic town hall, Kornelimünster with its imperial abbey, Alt-Breinig with its quarry stone houses and Stolberg with its former copper yards and to recover from the relatively long 70-kilometre stage (Jülich - Aachen) of the previous day. The natural river valley of the Inde also promises a natural idyll along the route and makes the tour a scenic experience.
