Rahmenberg
Monschau
The cloth frames, which stood here on the narrow and long terraces secured with slate and greywacke quarry stones, gave the Rahmenberg its name. After weaving, the fabrics were napped (mending threads) and fulled (compacted and matted with water and wooden stamps). The heavily shrunk fabric had to be pulled apart again and stretched on frames to dry. The frame mountain is one of the most interesting floor and technical monuments from the clothmaking era.
