Kristallnacht
Aachen
The Nazi era was a nightmare, especially for Jews. One of the historical highlights of this period was the Reichspogromnacht from November 8 to 9, 1938, on which night the synagogue in Aachen was desecrated and destroyed by Nazi arson. 1106 glass plates, each 19 millimetres thick and shaped into a Star of David, still remind us of Kristallnacht today. Like the star, the new synagogue and Judaism in its essence are to reach indestructibly into the future.
