Hotmannspief
Aachen
The cold water flowing from its jugs invites anyone with a thirst to take a short break. The location of the fountain, which was built in 1825 according to designs by Adam Franz Leydel, is historical. There was already a running fountain on this site in the 14th century, which was only enlarged and fitted with a water bowl in the 16th century. Perhaps this is where its name comes from, as the carters, also known as hotmen, were allowed to water their horses at this fountain after their journey.
