Fischpüddelchen
Aachen
The Fischpüddelchen is a fountain monument that was built at the fish market in 1911. The name "Püddelchen" comes from the Öcher Platt dialect and refers to a naked toddler. In the middle of the city center, the Fischpüddelchen was initially controversial, as children in particular were bothered by the nudity. After years of dispute and police surveillance of the monument, the citizens of Aachen have learned to love the Fischpüddelchen, as have the many visitors to the city.
