Büchel-Museum in der Roten Burg
Aachen
Since its official opening at the beginning of March 2019, Aachen's museum landscape has had another worthwhile place to visit in the form of the "Büchel Museum in der Roten Burg". A private art collector from Aachen has made his collection accessible to the public in the "Rote Burg", one of Aachen's oldest town houses with a vaulted cellar that has been preserved almost intact since 1450.
The collection comprises around 200 original works by the once highly revered painter, draughtsman and illustrator Emil Orlik (1870-1932). Through his many travels, the Prague-born artist constantly renewed his style, which is reflected in his works - some of which have Japanese or Arabic influences.
In future, literary evenings with readings by authors (also from the Aachen region) and music evenings to promote young musicians are to be held in the "Rote Burg" throughout the year.
