The Wurm shows its wild face.

On our route, we experience the German-Dutch version of the Amazon. The water rushes, interrupted time and again by small rapids. Pools peek out of floodplain forests, rotten trees and embankments are an Eldorado for beavers, kingfishers etc. We pass through gates along the way and follow small paths into the fascinating nature reserve.

The tour leads to the highs and lows of the valley. Halfway up the picturesque slope, right up to the Hochfeld plateau to count the church spires and to the panoramic platform at the Nivelstein sandstone works. Memorials tell of low points in history. Of the vanished villages of Finkenrath and Nivelstein, which sank as a result of mining, and of Anna Nöhlen, who helped Jews from the wilderness to escape and was murdered by the National Socialists.
