Abteitor

The abbey gate has served many different purposes, from a residential and entrance gate for the Benedictine abbey to a hospital during a cholera epidemic. In the Aachen vernacular, the gate is also known as the Jonastor, as it was also used as a pub by an innkeeper called "Jonas".
